Agreement to Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of AppStaff, a maritime recruitment platform connecting shipping companies and crewing agencies with seafarers and recruitment partners. By creating an account, posting a job, listing a candidate, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you are using AppStaff on behalf of a company or agency, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to this agreement.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter binding contracts to use AppStaff. Employer and recruiter accounts must represent a legitimate, registered shipping company, ship management firm, crewing agency, or licensed maritime recruiter. We may request documentation, including company registration details or applicable crewing licences, before granting full account access.
Account responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for all activity that occurs under your account. Keep your credentials confidential, do not share logins between users, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. Each company, agency, or recruiter should use a dedicated account rather than a shared one.
Acceptable use
When using AppStaff, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or impersonating information about yourself, your company, or any seafarer.
- Use the platform to harass, discriminate against, or exploit candidates.
- Charge seafarers fees in violation of the MLC 2006 or any applicable flag-state or port-state law.
- Upload malware, attempt to bypass security, or probe the platform for vulnerabilities without written permission.
- Use bots, crawlers, or any automated tool to scrape candidate profiles, vacancies, or contact data.
- Resell, redistribute, or re-publish AppStaff data on third-party job boards or databases.
Job postings and candidate listings
AppStaff is built for genuine maritime hiring. Specific rules apply to the content you publish.
Job postings
Vacancies must reflect real positions on identifiable vessels, fleets, or shore-based maritime roles. You must not post:
- Fake or "ghost" jobs used to harvest CVs.
- Roles requiring payment from the candidate to be considered or deployed.
- Vacancies that misrepresent the vessel type, trading area, contract length, or salary.
Candidate listings
Recruiters and agencies listing candidates must have the seafarer's informed consent to share their profile and credentials. You must not:
- Submit forged or altered Certificates of Competency, STCW endorsements, medical certificates, or seaman's books.
- Inflate sea time, rank progression, or vessel experience.
- List the same candidate under multiple identities.
We may remove any listing and suspend accounts that breach these rules, and we may report suspected document fraud to the relevant flag administration.
Intellectual property
The AppStaff platform, including its interface, code, branding, and original content, is owned by AppStaff and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the content you upload, such as job descriptions and candidate data, but you grant AppStaff a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the platform.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
AppStaff is a connection tool. We do not employ seafarers, operate vessels, or guarantee that a posting will be filled or that a listed candidate will be hired. The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, AppStaff is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost contracts, or damages arising from your hiring decisions, off-platform communications, or third-party conduct.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, post fraudulent content, or use the platform in a way that harms other users or the maritime industry. Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, and governing law survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which AppStaff is established. Any dispute arising from your use of the platform will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform evolves or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email. Continued use of AppStaff after an update means you accept the revised terms.
